The San Marcos Fire Department responded to an accidental fire near Aquarena Springs Drive Nov. 18.

According to Kristy Stark, San Marcos communications director, the unattended fire occurred Wednesday night near a homeless encampment and caught nearby grass and trees on fire.

Stark says the fire was put out quickly by the Fire Department, but it damaged some overhead communications lines in the area.
