Coming off a mid-week victory over I-35 rivals, the University of Texas at San Antonio Road Runners, the Texas State Bobcats downed the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 5-3.

The Bobcats struck early, taking a 2-0 lead in the early after sophomore infielder Tara Oltmann blasted a two-run homer in the top of the first.

Oltmann took part in Texas State’s next run in the top of the third, reaching home on an RBI single by sophomore infielder Arieann Bell.

The Bobcats added to their lead in the fifth when Bell doubled to right center, bringing in junior infielder Baliee Carter for the score.

The Bobcats scored their final run of the game off fielder’s choice. The Chanticleers scored their three runs in the final innings of the game but were unable to overcome the Bobcats and sophomore pitcher Meagan King.

The win moves the Texas State to 22-17 with a conference record of 10-5.
